We cut lots of fire hearths for customers here at Planet Granite throughout the year, these are generally in Black Granite and can be polished, honed (matt finish) or textured.
Fire hearths are generally made out of 30mm or 20 mm material and normally granite however we do make some from quartz depending on the customers preference.

We often build up the front edges of fire hearths so as to lift it and make it look thicker, we normally put a trimmer underneath that is set back around 5 to 10 mm although we can mitre the front edges to hide the joins completely.
We can fabricate hearths either in pieces or sometimes in T-Shapes in one piece this depends upon what type of burner you are having and the heat that is generated from it.
Most customers supply us with a simple sketch for us to produce hearths and they are normally made within a week for either delivery or collection from our factory in Coventry.
